Default Double paned alpine window?

I was looking at my Disco tonight, and there is a pane of glass on the inside of the driverside alpine window. The passenger side does not have this double pane.

Do all DI's have the double pane, or is it just mine?

it is there because of the rear air ducts, not really sure why though

Wouldn't it be on both sides though?

Mine has the same setup (94 Discovery). I was told that that is actually the duct for the rear air. Never bothered to check if that is the case or there are actual ducts in there.

no the rear air is located behind the drivers side jump seat, it has a duct that runs up the drivers side to the rear air controls above the back seats and to a vent in the very back middle of the roof for the 2 jump seats.

the extra pane is for the rear a/c it makes an air duct that feeds the 2 vents in the roof above the back seats. the air actually flows between it and the outside glass

I just noticed this in my new rover as well and was thinking of putting in an aquarium. Im sure it will get hot in the sun if there is no ac running through there so I guess I will get desert fish...
