Default Rocker arms to avoid

Not sure what brand they are...

History-

Bought an 03' with a blown head gasket slipped liner.

Pulled the motor and tore it down.

Bought a P38 with a 4.6, pulled that motor and did the head gaskets.

The Rocker assemblies looked brand new on the 03' motor, I was even thinking that the motor had been replaced under warranty.

Decided to use the "new" rockers on the motor that was going in.

Got it all together sounded OK. After about 500 miles and after the car was warm starting hearing a ticking noise at #8(after that turns out #7).

Pulled the rockers and noticed that every other arm was aftermarket, the opposite every other was OEM. The shop must of thought it would "balance" them.

Attached are the photos. The inset at the "cup" that meets the push rods get loose, especially after getting warmed up and causes the noise.

I'll try to show the looseness on a video tomorrow. Hope this helps.

So what's your game plan? Swap the other complete assemblies back in?
Is this the same engine you think may have a slipped sleeve?
If so did you try a grey 180? worked for me. the tick used to annoy the sh*t out of me, especially at the bank drive thru then I swapped to a 180 and no more ticking...amazing how a few degrees can change everything....knock on wood of course.
This has nothing to do with your rockers I know but, was just wondering how it was going with the sleeve since you mentioned it in another thread.

Scrapped the slipped liner motor.

The motor in question has a grey thermostat already. I put a set of used OEM rocker assemblies in and the motor is nice and quiet.

The plan was to fix the car and sell for a profit, but then my Dad informed me he wanted a Discovery. Now we are selling at a loss after all these small issues have popped up like the dif and the rockers, plus all the preventative maintenance I've done.

He is driving from CA back to NM, so we will see how all the repairs hold up shortly! He picks it up Tuesday, headliner getting done Monday. Not a second to spare.

Successful. I put EBC greenstuff pads all around, used Bilsteins, and a new Radiator in his rig. It rides better than any of my rovers and runs cooler(has the grey 180 t stat.) The 4.6 from the 2000 Range Rover runs super strong.

Thanks for asking.
