Default Running Hot

My 97 Disco runs hot at slow speeds but then cools down to normal once hit speeds above 40 mph. Had radiator rodded, new water pump, belts, hoses. Still overheats. Dosen't matter if the A/C is on or not. Any thoughts on why it keeps on overheating.

Thanks,

Bub

I would check your fan clutch.
Also the small AC fans may not be working.

Fan clutch sounds about right. Consider your thermostat as well.

I would also suggest you don't drive it any more till you find the problem or you be looking for an engine.

How about coolant leaks, have you been needing to add some prior to the radiator repair? You might want to do a coolant pressure test and a chemical block test to rull out head gaskets.

Noticed that one of the small electric fans don't come on. Could this be enough with just one to overheat???

Both of my fans wern't working, but the only time it wouldget hotwas when I was sittingin traffic or a drive through. I would put it in neutral and hit the gas and that would cool it down. Now the fans are replaced and no morehot engine.. mine would go about 3/4 of the way up the gauge but never in the red. Good luck Scott
