Default Should i buy from a dealer?

Used car dealer buy me has an 04 se with 84K and its in mint cond he wants $9,500 for it.I was going to offer $8,000.Its a dealer so the only maint records is a carfax which is not a big help.Where i live its only dealer owned cars on the market that are in good shape

that seems a little high to me especially without all records. you might be able to get the VIN and check thru LRNA for shop records. my guess is you are going to need a new front prop shaft, mikes full service as a result of no prior service history and the ever looming head gasket... if you do all the work yourself you can add roughly 1800-2300 to the buy now price. keep that in mind... plus the high octane gas only.. I got my 03 in philly with more miles on it but from a LR dealership mechanic with full records for 5K it had 93K on it and had just had the head gasket done.

Have done 100% of mikes major service, including magnecore wires and +4 plugs. VIN# is in the "range" but what will be will be... all I can do is enjoy till then.

The prices vary so much around the country. Down here finding a good condition 04 was tough. I looked at a ton before I found the one I wanted.

In N.Y. that is a cheap price for an 04 as long as it is not a base model and is mechanically sound.
If you want it, pay to have another Rover shop do a pre-purchase inspection so you won't get screwed after the purchase.

I prefer to buy from dealers, at least then you have a place to bring the truck to if it is a lemon.
A good dealer will not sell a subpar car, their reputation is on the line.
