Sunroof Leak, Type of Plastic, Adhesive To Use?
I have a 2004 Disco and I've been dropping water from the beginning. Finally pulled the headliner down to find both nipples on the plastic collection cups were broken off on the front sunroof.
I cant seem to find any markings to identify which type of plastic these cups are made of. Most everything else in the Disco that I have seen is marked "ABS". Im assuming that the cups are no different.
Does anybody know for sure?
I used Permatex brand PermaPoxy Plastic Weld to glue the nipples back on and globbed it on the seam between the cup and the metal sunroof tray on the front and rear (all 4) to help seal it up.
Although the rear nipples werent broken off I still glued them up anyway.
The Plastic Weld says it works for ABS but that it wont work on most polyethylenes and polypropylenes.
What are the chances these cups are made of either of these poly plastics?

There may be a crack or separation around the seal. I have a 99 Disco II. The rear sunroof began to leak. When we had a hard rain, I had to wear a wet suit while driving. Water would come in in about every imaginable opening. I applied a clear silicone sealant around the outside seal of the sunroof and it has not leaked since.

I replaced mine with parts from http://www.roverlandparts.com and used windshield sealer to get them on. It took an entire day to remove headliner, sunroofs, and cleaning out all the existing gunk, but it was well worth it. Just make sure you pick a time that it won't be pouring for a couple days if possible. Lastly, I used a bunch of clamps from Home Depot to hold it together while it dried.
