My front sunroof is open and stuck. When I push the button it just clicks once and I hear a small noise as if it wants to go. I have tried to close it manually but it will not budge.
Rear sunroof works only with the switch in the front. The back switch does not work.
I swapped the rear and front switches on the front panel and that didn't work.
I replaced the fuse.
Is it one motor for both sunroofs?
I can switch out the motor if I have too, but it's raining and I need to figure why it won't manually close.
I also read about the EUC and could use more help on that.
They both use the same motor so you could swap the motors.
You have tried to close it with the allen wrench and it wont close?
Have you tried lubing the tracks it slides on?
Fuse 12 and fuse 29 inside the truck have to be good. The sunroof system has an ECU just for it, and that monitors the operating switches and runs the motors. On the drawing in the RAVE these switch and motors seem to have ground points nearby, that is the other half of the circuit path and could be loose.
Fuse 12 and 29 are good. Next step is to check for the short because one switch works and two do not. I went over the RAVE drawing. Just to clarify front and rear roof each have their own motor - right?
I'm going to try and lube the track and see if that will get it to close manually. Any other thoughts why it won't close with the allen wrench?

When you said you could not close the roof manually, did you try using an allen wrench ? Also, the rear may nope open if you pushed the lock buuton on your front controls.

Yes to separate motors, and the child safe switch Mike mentions is also something to check. It is in series with the ground side of the rear switch, so if pushed (or bad) while roof is open it over rides all attempts to close it from rear switch.
I am putting my 2001 Discovery II SE up for sale and am thinking about fixing the frozen sunroof in the front (the rear sunroof is fully operational). My mechanic tried to gently manually open it but it would not budge. He also tested the electrical and ruled that out as an issue.
There has been a small leak that comes down from the panel just to the front of the forward sunroof. I noticed it soon after I bought the vehicle and the service records show it was leaking before I bought it. All was functional regardless, and then one day warning the sunroof just wouldn't open. No strange opening/closing behavior prior.
I have found used sunroof assemblies on ebay and I have found motors (all with decent return policies). Is there any "magic test" to know if I need a new motor vs. a new track and such, or do I just replace everything?
Is this a worthwhile fix, i.e. is the return dollar for dollar, or am I just assuming that everyone wants a working front sunroof? I know I love opening the sunroof but I am just one opinion among many.
