Default thinking about buying my first LR discovery II

ok so im ready to take the step in buying a LR......already aware of the high maintenance costs etc.

this is the car im thinking about

LR discovery II
56,000 miles
GREAT condition, inside & out

asking price of $7,500 (outside NYC)
seems very high according to KBB, Edmunds, etc. for this model & year

I would kindly ask the seasoned discovery owners to weigh in here and help me out with my decision in making an offer and what to expect with this particular model. thanks in advance

56k is really low which means the driveshaft and head gaskets won't be done thats my assumption i could be wrong. i rebuild my driveshaft myself for $75 and the head gaskets I've never done and I'm at 133k my mechanic charges $1k for that and he gives me labor at 50% off. Does it have ace and sls. $7500 is high for any disco except that honestly at 56k and with some potential large fixes coming up id offer 6800. do as much diy as possible land rover dealers are $80-$150/hr around here don't know about where your at. When you get your truck run rotella t6 or regular T 5w40 or 15w40

@ 56k miles if it has everything that I wanted (7seats, trim., condition, ace, color, whatever, etc) and had been taken care of, with no issues..... I'd be willing to pay 6-6.5....but not really likely. probably has a few negotiating flaws/issues.

Admittedly I don't know the US market but it looks about a 2000-2001 although the mileage is very low - if it's kosher (4-5k per annum.......hmmm ). I would have thought $7,500 even with a genuine low mileage was OTT and would offer no more than $5.5K initially (then find some negotiating margin faults) and negotiate up to max £6.0-6.5K Looking online there are many D2's for sale in the US and far cheaper with under 100K miles on the speedo. But I am a TAB.

If you are going to pay someone to work on it rather than do the work yourself, don't do it is my advice. Buy a good Jeep instead. If you will do routine maintenance yourself, and most light to medium repairs they can be great values!

My $.02, other opinions will vary!

Just an FYI the one I bought used here in Denver had the Instrument cluster meticulously taken apart and had the lights filled with tape to hide the 3 amigos and high mileage..........just saying as always "buyer beware" .
I discovered it months later and the guy I bought it from no where to be found!
I would also low-ball that deal that way if something does go soon at least you have the money for repairs!

+1 Also my thoughts, but maybe there's a good reason for the older model?
