Default tires, tires, tires...

Ok so,Looking at getting new tires.. I run 265/75/16 now. Going to stay with that size. have read a bunch of reviews here on the Dura-Tracs... all sounded good. But, I have two good friends running the wrangler Silent Armour. So now I am a little unsure. Any suggestions/comments/ warnings, etc.. would be greatful.

Well since there are many different versions of the "Silent Armour" tire its hard for us to say if they are any good or not.

The Dura Trac's are a great tire.
Personally I like the Cooper Discoverer S/T and thats what I recommend, great in the snow, mud, sand, rain and not noisy on the expressway.

New to the LR community, but a former Jeep owner. Are you looking for something A/T, Highway, or M/T

A/T = General Grabber AT 2, Dick Cepek FC II, Firestone Destination AT (just avoid ice!)
Highway = Never used haha
M/T = Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar

Also the newer General Grabber (Red Lettering) are supposed to be pretty solid also.

are you looking to off-road? is it a daily driver or a weekender? i love the Treadwright Guard Dogs i have them in that size. However its not my DD. I only take it out when the weather gets bad or when im heading off road. they are M/T tires so there is a hum at highway speeds but the price is right and im happy with them and the 5,000 i put on them.

I've talked with the guys at the Goodyear service center across the street from my office about 5000 times in the last few months as I am gearing up to buy some tires as well. Their opinion is that the traction difference between the Duratracs and the Kevlar SA tires would be minimal with the slight edge to the SA tires because of the meatier tread. They noted the SA's would probably handle better and be a little quieter on road because of the Kevlar and the tread being directional.

Based on their not seeming to be a huge difference between the 2 as far as all weather performance, on roadhandling and wear, I'm going with the Duratracs.

Nittos are quiet and last a while and good traction.

Or check out the Toyo open county tire line also (the MT's or open county A/T's).

Or you can go with the BFG's all terrain T/A KO, common but solid.

I might roll with those 265/70/16 nittos from that ebay link once I get my tax money. I am stock though. Running 255/70/16 coopers on there now. You think I would be ok with the extra width of a 265/70/16 stock rim?

Default 265/75/16 on stock

I am running 265/75/16 Goodyear Wranglers on my stock DII. There is about an inch of clearance from the bumper and I have not had any rubbing. I do not really off road, just like to play in the mud and maybe an easy trail.
