Can anyone give me a heads up as to what this is??? I'm a newb and from what I can tell it is connected to the cooling system. There are two hoses that go directly to the reservoir.

The issue is the Rover is overheating because air and coolant are shooting out of the block that the hoses are connecting. Can anyone advice as to the gasket and what the main function of this is.

Thanks mates!!!

Dustin

throttle body heater gasket is a common failure item. that is what you are speaking of. it is a plate that sandwiches the gasket. the channel of coolant keeps your tb thawed

those 2 hoses can be connected as a bypass with a little piece of bent pine. 1/4"
warmer climates it can be a permanent
fix

Thanks Dusty!...

I'm freaking out because when I was driving my Disco Hit the RED Temp side and then cut off on me. It starts up fine cold but now I'm concerned that the engine is damaged. I know the basics of mechanic work and at best I'm praying that the head gaskets are still intact. I've checked the oil dipstick and there seems to be consistency in the oil, so that is a good sign. Please advice on anyways I can test cooling system to stop overheating.

Engine shows overheating after about 5 minutes of driving due to coolant leak in this throttle block.

Thank you!

So instead of going in to the Throttle body I can T them off to each other and the plug the throttle housing where they would have gone? I'm in Florida by the way.

I don't think the engine is overheating because of the leak there...

Hey I'm open to your thoughts...My next step it to check the therm and possibly water pump... This just recently started...maybe a week in the making. It's never had an overheating issue before.

yes you can bypass. post #3
but as mentioned, unless it has dripped until you are low of coolant, you likely have other issues. a scanner that will give live data (including your temp) is recommended. lots use ultra gauge, i use scan gauge II. the factory gauge is not a good thing to follow.

after replacing the throttle body heat have your cooling system pressure tested, to find the bigger leak and have your cooling system flushed
