Default Wipers stopped working

Hey Guys,

My 2000 D2 front wipers quit working today. Happened suddenly while driving. Windshield washer still works. Fuse #19 is good. I think it may be the relay (if a relay exists for the front wipers??)

I'm getting confusing info about a front wiper relay. Rave says it's in the passenger compartment fuse box but doesn't give exact location. I searched the forum, and reference was made to Relay #7 in the engine compartment fuse box.

Can someone tell me if there is a front wiper relay, and if so, where it is located?

Thanks!

Andy

Well, after further review it seems like the wiper motor is working. I can hear it come on when I activate the wiper stalk. So I think my nuts are loose.

Check your nuts everyone....

Maybe the squirrels took them, Winter is coming...

There is a type of hinge system under the cowl at the front. Maybe its broken or something has come un done.

Thanks for the input Abran.....hopefully that's not it, but if tightening the nuts doesn't work that's where I'll look next

Turns out Abran was right. Took the cowling off (after removing the A-pillar covers), and found a bolt had fallen off the wiper linkage. Easy fix.

Now I have to fix/replace all the clips that broke removing the trim/cowling.

Also, looks like the linkage took out this ground strap that was hiding under there. Anyone know what the ground is for? Wiper motor?

Thanks!

It's a common problem when you remove the A pillar plastic covers. Being plastic it's a matter of luck whether they come off with breaking the lugs. Check it out with Paul Grant as he commented on these once before some time back. Drop him a PM and he'll no doubt advise or maybe supply some used trims. New LR ones with be a kings ransom no doubt.

PS Atlantic British have a vid on removing these covers.
