Default Engine Rattle when accelerating

Hi -

I have a LR Disco 2 and the engine runs pretty quiet at Idle, but when I accelerate it begins to rattle? Also as I accelerate the car feels a little stiff ( doesn't respond with the power that I believe it should have. Any suggestions??

So, what have you checked so far?
I would start with a possible cat failure since you may also be running short of power. If that is the case get them replaced quickly so they won't shatter and plug up your muffler.

As assumed I did check the CAT and it is fact the culprit...which is the one on the driver's side. One question Though?! Since the full assembly for my 2002 Land Rover CAT is a split Y pipe....do I have to replace the whole Y pipe or just the affected CAT (driver's side CAT)? I know that it would have to be welded and all since clamps only tend to leak as I was told. Any suggestions?? I need to pass inspection in NJ, so if any one knows or has experienced this issue and resolve...would be great if you could share/help.

Part of that question will depend on how many miles on the truck, if no more then 100,000 miles, I would say you could get away with a after market replacement cat, not an entire y pipe.
If though you want better performance replace both cats with a couple of hi performance low back pressure cats and just have your local muffler shop install them.

The truck has over 100,000 miles 107k to be exact. So I went on and purchased a Split Y pipe catalytic converter. The noise is def from that since I inspected it myself and noticed the sound of a loose particle within the driver's side CAT.

Now I have question concerning my shocks.....

Every time I go over a bump or pothole it feels like the car is going crumble or the whole car shakes from the effect of going over the pothole.

Have another question concerning a wheezing noise coming from the driver's side wheel as the car is in motion. I hear it as I pass parked cars or as I drive alongside a street divider (very annoying and noisy).

Any suggestions or pointers would be a great help!!!
