Hello all,

Have symptom of “drive through” vibration.

Land Rover Discovery 2004, purchased at 47K, now with 100K miles.
Purchased from Land Rover dealer, no off-road use.

Vibration at about 40 mph and again at about 60-65 mph.
Vibration is sensed in the coach or body with very little
at the steering wheel at 40, only in the body at 60-65.

Tire changes, Hunter align and balance, steering damper, drag link, front drive shaft (saved the original!), flex coupling. Rear u-joint okay. Grease front drive shaft and replace nipple with plug. Mounts appear okay. Vibration has not become worse.

All major work by Land Rover.

Some of my research indicates that the yokes of the front diff and xfer
case should be out of phase with each other by 180 degrees. This appears to be compensated by the design of the 2004 front drive shaft. Does anyone
know if that applies the 2004 Discovery?

Any comments will be appreciated.

Seems like you have checked everything. Im not sure, but I think it will be better if you post this on Discovery section. If I have major problems, I get comments immediately. Just try it there.

 

Make sure the panhard rod bolts are tight.
