2003 Freelander Sunroof Issues
Hello,
I have a 2003 Freelander with 50k miles on it that we just bought.
I seems that the sunroof may have an issue. When I press the button to open and close the sunroof it seems it only does half the work. The roof will pitch open and then pitch back closed. When you press and hold the button the motor pitches the window up then clicks repeatedly. It is the same closing it. The window will pitch closed and the motor will click until you let go of the button.
It is my understanding that the sunroof should pitch up and then go backwards to open all the way up. Does the same motor handle both operations or is there a separate motor that makes the sunroof slide open and closed after it pitches up?
Thanks,
Patrick

Just a quick reply... congratulations on your purchase. Yeah, the sunroof. I hate to tell you this, but a good majority of Freelander owners gave up on the sunroof, and pulled the fuse. The last time we opened ours, it was a 90 degree day in 2013, and we savored it. It closed perfectly, as we said a prayer. Since that time, we've enjoyed our glass roof. Closed. What could go wrong: the motor, the wiring, and the plastic guides and gears. Trust me, close it, and enjoy. Also, the windows... keep 'em up and use the vent and a/c. You'll never have to replace another regulator.
