Default Freelander Engine Problems Documented

April 15, 2009 61,116 Miles
New Land Rover engine installed by Automotive Repair Group, with modified head bolts to keep engine sealed tighter.
August 5, 2009 61971 miles
Transmission not working properly, shifting erratically. Towed the land Rover to Land Rover of Alexandria. They found manifold insert leaking and pvc tube broken and replaced the pvc tube and insert. They also replaced manifold throttle body link harness. They also replaced the transmission.
December 1, 2009 67,965 miles
Found oil was leaking and very low in engine. Took to Land Rover of Alexandria where tech found cam seal leaking. they replaced front and rear cam seals. (put in writing)Did not re-align timing belts advised us to take back to shop that installed engine to have that performed. Called Automotive repair group (Shop that installed new engine) said it was not their responsibility to re-align timing belts that Land Rover of Alex should do that. I called Land Rover and the tech told me the car was fine to drive.
April 5, 2010 69,698 miles
Service Engine light on and losing oil. Had car towed to Land Rover of Alexandria. Land Rover responded, missing lifter caused excessive amount of exhaust to flow out of one exhaust valve causing the exhaust valve failure and service engine light to come on. They preformed an engine management diagnosis, fuel pressure test, compression test and a cylinder test. Found 0 compression and 80% cylinder leakage on cylinder 4. They removed the cylinder head and installed a missing lifter and replaced 1 burnt exhaust valve on cylinder 4. They also replaced all timing belts.
End of April 70,500 miles
Towed back to LAND ROVER OF ALEXANDRIA....IT IS THERE NOW. Now they are saying they are not responsible for the engine for they fixed the issues they caused. They blame the engine issues on what they say is the missing exhaust lifter.

My question is how did I get about 8000 miles in a car with a missing exhaust lifter and I feel that the problem with my ruined engine is Land Rover let me leave without adjusting the timing belt.
What do u think?
