Default IRD or Rear Diff?

My freelander just started thumping and clunking worse when turning but I cannot pin point it sometimes it sounds like its comming from the front end but other times the rear end
Its so bad I cannot drive it on the road how can I tell if the half shaft are cooked it might be these ???????

You need to have all the driveline fluids changed TODAY and hope it is not to late.
There is a fluid couple in the middle of the car that transfers power from front axle to rear axle as you drive.

If it clunks you can check the rear diff bushing. its near the driveshaft. Many of those break around the bolt. But its possible you also have a loose sway bar link or something else in the front suspension. Have the vehicle put on the lift and inspected.

Its the IRD unit so I just picked one up at the wreakers for 350 I might have to check the drive shaft now to see if that VCU failed
Im now drivin with FWD I took the drive shaft out
