Default Things you should look out for.

Depending on what model and trim it is, you may want to look out for the following:

Kv6 2.5l engine:
MAJOR: Minor knocking is ok, but be wary as this may be a sign of a bad gasket. Any major engine knocking heard may be a sign that this LR is a lemon. Also look for any hard shifting while the transmission is hot, as it is usually a sign of leakage. If the engine's coolant level is proper, the temperature gauge should be slightly below the middle point. If it is not there may be a problem with the radiator.

MINOR: I've had a few problems with the heated seats and rear window actuators. Look under each of the forward seats for a small electrical plug, if it is unplugged and heated seats are not working, then the plug is likely the problem, if they are working and the plug is unconnected, this means that the seat has been hotwired, be wary as some have reported that their seats ignite.

Kv6 1.8l engine:
MAJOR: Same as above, though problems for this are more common and may arise after purchasing the vehicle. Also be wary of the transmission; it may feel fine while test driving, but they are notorious for leakage.

MINOR: Same as above.

Tdi v4 Diesel engine:
MAJOR: Hard engine knocking will be experienced if the car is in a cold climate. Be sure NOT to start the engine unless you have added an ungel formula to the diesel, if engine knocking is still experienced after the engine is warm/ has been warm I suggest looking at the engine itself, sometimes the bolts will come loose and knocking is just a simple torque wrench away. I havn't heard anything about the transmission or brakes on this one, but you may want to be wary as this model produces just over 160 hp, so LR may've placed an inadequate breaking system on this model for its weight class. look to the top right of the engine compartment, the black circular object placed vertically with the face facing you contains the fluid for your power breaks, if there are two stacked one infront of the other you're fine, if not it may be harder to break.

Minor: same as above, plus the fact that you have a glow plug, be sure it is functioning and the light comes off.

Thanks for reading, hope everything's ok with it.
