Question a new project_ installing a 4.0 L V8

hi there,

this is my first visit here, and my brother asked me to do this .

Actually my brother has recently bought a 2002 Freelander 2.5 L V6 .
And he asked me a question, "can I install a 4.0 L V8 into my freelander" ??
I immediately answered him " I DON'T KNOW ". I asked him to wait for some days in order to post a thread in this GREAT, HELPFUL & FANTASTIC forum !!

so the question is :
Can my brother install a 4.0 V8 into his Freelander ?? instead of the weak 2.5 V6 . Will he face problems to install a 4.0 V8 ????

OHHHH I forgot to tell you something else, he told me if he installed a 4.0 L he will install R380 manual gearbox, also LT 230 transfer case, and both of them are from a wrecked 1999 Discovery V8 .

I hope u all reply as soon as possible. I need replies from all experts .
I'm waiting you guys, don't be late ! Because my nervous brother will eat me if you will be late !!!

I have brothers like that as well. Best idea is to take the funds required for such a project, and buy a real Disco and fix it up. Then you have two rides, one for flailing the trail, the other for enjoying the other 95% of the roads. Or buy a Defender, if your bro has deep pockets....

And seems like I saw a post somewhere that guys found a supercharger from the 60's that would fit the Disco "what have we done"

Yes, it won't fit, too many modifications required to frame and chassis, control systems, etc. Will reduce leg room for tall driver.

if you really want to try something, put a 3.0 V6 out a ford escape, They use similar transmission assemblies and you might be able to buy it lock stock and barrel and get it to fit.
