Hi Alan i have a 2000 td4 Freelander also with the exact same problem. I had mine looked at and it had no fault codes or anything. The mechanic had it for a few days and found it difficult to get the car to fault at first as onece running it does not skip a beat. Its only when it has stopped after a short journey and a quick return it will turn over and not fire. Does your heater light come on all the time or is it intermittent like mine? Mine will sometimes not light up at all but still start and then next day they will light up like a xmas tree. If you find a cause would be grateful if you let me know.

Alan

I have recently had my car repaired at a land rover specialist. It had the same problem as you described.

Fault repaired was a camshaft sensor that would allow it to start a few times but would then not read the signal.

Cost of repair £151.00 well worth the money for peace oif mind when going out to the car to start it and it goes everytime.

Hope this helps if you have not had yours repaired yet!

Darrell

Default Freelander Ignition Switch

I have a 2003 freelander that when I changed the Spark Plugs, will now not start. When I turn the Ignition Switch it does absolutely nothing. I have checked the Starter, the Plugs, the Relays and now I noticed that the Ignition Switch is very hot when I turn the key several times. This was happening before all this happen, when I removed the key from the ignition my key would be very hot. I need help in instruction in how to removal the entire Ignition Switch from the vehicle ? Someone please help ?!
