Default Timing Belt Replacement

I'm going to attempt the timing belt replacement on my 02 Freelander SE. Do I really need the Timing Belt tool to do it? And how long would this job take me? Seems like there is a lot of different views out there. Some advice would be great. Is there really 3 belts to change? While Im in there Im going to replace the thermostat as I'm leaking coolant and I'm pretty sure its a bad thermostat as its leaking on the ground and not into the valley.

Please respond!
