Default Accident - E85 fuel

I accidentally put E85 fuel in my Freelander. What should I do? There is about 10 gallons in the tank. Thanks.

cheapest route is drive on it till its empty and then add pure premium to get it running right. the next expensive route is to take out the gas pump and drain the fuel completely and again add pure premium for a few tank fulls. then clear the codes and hope and prey it didn't damage the fuel pump.

If its not full already add premium and dilute the E-85 as much as possible.

Freelanders call for 87 octane if I'm not mistaken. Ethanol is an octane booster, so why add 93? I would worry about a lean condition running the E85, so I would mix as much ethanol free fuel as you can.

And keep adding premium, further diluting things, don't wait until empty.

Unless premium is the only ethanol free fuel in the area, I don't see the need to have to use it(unless that's what you prefer)

Check your owners manual, Freelanders have a BMW engine, I am pretty sure it requires premium fuel, just like every other Land Rover.
The "opps I put in E-85" wont hurt anything once, but do it over and over and the fuel pump will die a quick death.
E-85 is a great injector cleaner.

87 octane minimum. Not trying to be argumentitive, but I'm in the marine industry and have to deal with ethanol issues constantly. When I tell customers about problems they are having because of ethanol, the 1st thing out of their mouth is "I only use premium", and it's like pulling teeth getting them to understand it's not an octane issue, and what ethanol is and does(positive and negative)

I dont have a Freelander so I take you at your word.
Ethanol is not a octane thing, its a how much money the oil company wants to make thing.

whats really fun is when the gas companies mix too much ethanol and regular premium has 12 percent or more and causes the check engine light to come on.
