Default Can anyone help with Coolant Manifold lingo?

I just got my car back from the dealer who had it over the weekend to replace the coolant manifold and thermostat assembly after we had found a leak. They called us and said they were going to have to keep it longer and issue a loaner because the tech had "broken" a bolt off into the manifold and they had to retrieve it. They called today to say it was ready and about 10 minutes after I picked it up the engine made a weird sound and felt like the engine was stuttering. Engine light came on and screen said "Engine performance decreased" or something very similar to that effect. The gas peddle had hardly any effect on my speed and the car was running extremely rough at a stop. Soon after a bad smell came from the car as I was trying to make it home. I called the dealer immediately and they sent out a tow truck and hauled it back. Any takers on what happened? I'm not a mechanic at all, just love my LR3. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

We need to know what engine it has, V6 petrol, V8 petrol, or V6 Turbo Diesel.

Spike555- It is a V8 LR3 SE It was not a pingy type noise. More like a stutter or as I could best describe it..."Like my right front wheel was dragging as my others were going about 60 and then I lost about 20 mph". My tires were spinning fine though it's just the best I could explain it to them for feeling. I wish I could explain better. I'm really trying to figure out the anatomy of the coolant manifold and if the "missing bolt" could have been sucked into the engine after my engine required it's first drink of coolant after 10 minutes of driving.

Sorry all, after reviewing a few other posts I've realized I may have left out some pertinent info. I have a 2005 LR3 SE V8. Not sure what else could help. I have 153,000 miles and no problems until now.

Call the dealer/service manager this morning and ask him for the specific information, not us, all we can do is guess.
Let us know what they found.

Well if it feels like something is holding back the right front wheel it is probably the ABS kicking in for some reason.
As for the "coolant manifold" there is no such thing that I know of.
Now there is a heater on the throttle body (near the intake manifold) that has hot water running through it.
IF they dropped one of those bolts into the intake manifold it was a small bolt and would be smashed, destroyed, melted and spit out the exhaust by the engine.

Highly unlikely, they probably just snapped off a bolt and it took them awhile to extract the stub and/or helicoil the housing threads after they drilled it out.

Wouldn't worry about the bolt, sounds like there are other issues though.

Sorry it has taken so long to update. The diagnosis was a spark plug that shattered. Who knew that one spark plug could cause so much trouble? Thanks for all the help.

Well without all the spark plugs working correctly I can see that causing all kinds of trouble.
I never would have thought of that though.
