Default Can't find my satalite radio

I just purchased a 2009 Land Rover HSE from a Nissan dealer. The price was good but they didn't know much about the car at all.

It has satellite radio built it (it says so on the Info screen of the radio and I can see the antenna on the back of the vehicle and it was on the list of features from the dealer).

Reading the documentation, it says I should be able to press FM repeatedly or hold FM (it's different in different places!) in order to switch the source to satellite. It only ever goes through FM1, FM2, and AM.

It also says under advanced options that I should be able to see my satellite ID. That isn't there either.

Any ideas how to get to my satelliteradio? Wondering if an old owner didn't use it and somehow figured out how to disable it???

you need the ein number provided by the unit. Read the owners manual in the audio and nav book that should have been provided and it will tell you how to get that number.

Or you could be a good customer and return it to the nissan dealer to get the correct info to make sure it works. Go directly to the customer sales rep you bought it from. Tell him you want the ein number and you want to activate it. if it doesn't work then you know its a trip to the land rover dealer for diagnosis.

When you say ein number, do you mean the Satellite ID or something else?

I've looked in the book for the Satellite ID and the menu that is supposed to have it does not exist in my radio. I don't see any mention of ein in the book.

Once I get this number, then what? Will radio options only appear if I have some kind of radio signal coming to my vehicle???

If I go to see anyone, it'll have to be the local Land Rover Dealer, I drove 2 1/2 hours away from home to buy this vehicle and the Nissan dealer was pretty clueless on the car.

Thanks!

Your satellite radio is there, it's just looking for a channel that doesn't exist anymore,
Sirius updated their channels and your satellite radio did not.
So the satellite module is confused so to speak.

Are you comfortable with disconnecting your battery?
If so try this.
Remove key from ignition and vehicle, close all doors except hood, wait 5 min.
Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery and wait 5 min.
While you are waiting disconncet the Battery positive cable and clean the terminals.
Reconnect the b+ cable first, then the ground cable.
Start you vehicle, Turn your radio on and wait approx 5 more minutes
You are doing this to allow your radio to try to update the new satellite information.
Re-check your satellite function.

If it's still inop, OR you are not comfortable with the battery disconnect procedure
you'll need to go to the dealer, they'll be able to help you.

Once you get the satellite function up and running you can access your esn and call Sirius
to subscribe
How do I find my Radio ID?
For many Sirius radios you can simply tune to channel 0 and the 12-digit Radio ID (also ESN, or SID) will be displayed. If it doesn't appear, your Radio ID may also be found by accessing the Menu function of your radio (you can refer to your owner's manual for specific instructions).

Good catch Mike, I missed the bulletin about the sat radio and the loss of stations.

Thanks for the suggestions. I unplugged the battery for 10 minutes just to be safe but it still didn't start letting me see my satellite radio. Do you know of any other way to force my radio to reset / download new stations?

I took it to the dealer but I needed to make an appointment for next week for them to spend more than a couple minutes looking at it. They verified via the VIN that I do have satellite radio. They seemed to think it was something where the radio had to download new data too. I have an appointment for Wednesday but if anyone has other suggestions before then, I'd love to hear them as it would save me the hassle of dropping off my vehicle and arranging for a ride to and from work.
