Default Defender 90 300tdi - engine cutting out

Hi guys

Wonder if any of you over there can suggest what's up with my Defender.

It can happen without warning, the engine just cuts out and the battery light comes on. The power steering naturally goes off and braking is impaired without the engine going and I just have to pull off the road.

This is whilst out for a drive, whether or not the engine is warm or cold. You wait maybe 10 minutes then you can start the engine again and drive awy as though nothing was wrong. It may not happen again for maybe 80 miles or more. A friend suggested it might be the fuel pump solenoid needs replacing (the vehicle is 10 years old). Another suggested it might be a fault on the alarm/immoboliser.

The vehicle has always been serviced by Land Rover since new and has just had a full service with fuel filter change hjours before the last time it cut out

Any other helpful thoughts please would be appreciated.
