Hi the EGR valves on my 2005 Disco 3 need replacing, I have been advised to block them off rather than change them are there any issues with doing this??
Thanks
Mike

Old skool stuff left over from back in the days of "us" vs "the government" and early smog control, cutting fan belts on smog pumps, etc. Modern vehicles are designed with these parts as integrated components to the system and they need to be there, or something else won't work right, codes can be generated, may not pass inspection, etc.
Yes you can do it, you will have a check engine light on all the time.
I had a similar problem on my 2001 Mistubishi Montero, EGR fault code.
Replaced the EGR, code came back.
Turned out all it was was the truck needed a tune up, meaning new spark plugs and spark plug wires.
Replaced those, reset the code and it never came back.
SO you might want to start there if you have not already done so.
The EGRs can be blanked on 2005 2.7 TDV6 engine
There will be no engine light on or any noticable change in vehicle behavior
It will pass all emission tests after
blanking them you will save money and get rid of bother for good
(cause the new ones will likely fail Again)
many guys in UK do it and its common modification here
You can even buy blanking kit or do it yourself
You are so far off on this, first of all you don't know what he has for an engine, the valve system is there for a reason and if tampered with will cause emission issues, a check engine light and it will not pass any emission test.

I assumed he had a petrol engine as he did not state where he was from or which engine he has.
But yeah, the EGR blanking on a diesel is common and wont hurt anything and you will pass emissions.
Thanks Guys for your feedback, I have 2005 disco with a 2.7L Diesel engine.
I took the car to 4W motors and they blanked off the EGR vlaves for me saving about £500,
