Default engine problems

hi i need some help deciding what to do my disco has blown the rear seal water goes in and out at the same time. now the question is to buy a reco motor or repair this one it has 330 k's on the clock any help would be gratefull

By rear seal do you refer to water leaking down the back of the engine? Could be a head gasket. But if lucky, it could be valley pan. At your miles, engine can still be rebuilt. A manual oil PSI test will also indicate general condition of oil pump and perhaps pressure lost by worn lower end bearings. Compression test for rings.

Many write ups on this, incluidng in the truck replacement of lower end bearings, etc.

You can also get pull out motors at the junk yard, but you-pull-da-partz places usually have blown engines to start with.

ok thanku i have been offered a 2nd hand motor that has done 170,000 ks for $1000.00 with 3 mths warranty i think i might take it cheers

Where exactly is it leaking from?
A blown head gasket is not a big deal.

We don't know as yet until I pull it out but the way the water was coming out I think the welsh plug blew cheers and thanku for your help

You can replace the freeze plugs with new ones, it is common for them to rust and leak.

yeah i know and doing 330k's without changing them is not that bad but i will know more on the weekend when we pull it out cheers and thanku for your help
