RE: immobiliser problems- 1996 Disco diesel tdi
Does the vehicle respond to the remote control for turning the alarm off/on??
It might be as simple as t flat or very low battery in the keyfob, as I beleive it needs to be close to the ignition swtich when you try to start for it to deactivate the alarm.
It is worth using the key code in the drivers door too, if this allows you to switch your alarm off and start the disco, then you know for sure that the keyfob is the problem. If the key in number does not work then it is an alarm fault, which means a garage call out and maybe a new black box.
The key code is where you turn the key in the drivers door to the pin number which in theory should be written down in the vehicle documents.

I have the same problem. Did you resolve it ? Is the PIN you refer to the same as the CATS No. ? I even bought a new starter motor https://landroverforums.com/micons/m13.gif ! Does the key fob really have to be close to the key slot to re-mobilise?
questions questions!!

I think that maybe I can answer my own questions now. CATS is not the same as the PIN number that Lighting90 refers to. I still couldn't get the immobiliser to allow starting by entering the PIN via the door lock, but replacing the battery in the key fob has fixed the problem. Maybe I'll practice with the PIN thing, at least I have a spare starter motor now!
Happy new year all.
