My Disco 1 's key thomb went hay wire.
It seems that the lock button was stuck down and depleted the battery in the unit. getting the car with key symbol on the dash board.
Is there a way by passing this phenomena.
I'm stuck at the farm and nearest town 80km away.

there are also right ups on how to permanently bypass the immobilizer alarm as they are known to be finicky.

See attached pages from RAVE workshop manual. Not all Discos came with theft alarm worldwide. So there is an option that is just jumpers to bypass that function (spider). The RAVE tech manual also has pictures of the locations of the connectors, and wiring diagrams.

"there does seem to be an abbreviated version of the procedure available on NAS models, intended to be known only by Land Rover dealers and using a generic code (1515) for all vehicles. One US owner with a 2000 Range Rover had his vehicle stranded with a dead battery and no remote available, but when jumpering it got the message "Engine Disabled, Press Remote". Since he did not have a remote, he managed to reactivate the vehicle using a variant of the EKA procedure that the dealer confided -- the dealer was fairly sure that almost all NAS P38's have the same EKA code, which is:
Unlock once
lock 5 times,
unlock once,
and then lock 5 times. "
"Ignatius Wong wrote in to say the generic 1515 code he got from this page also worked on his 1996 Discovery when it its alarm system froze everything and prevented him from turning over the engine. starting the vehicle."
there are other options on that page. what have you tried?

At this stage a bit afraid to do permanent bypass.
Sended the key thomp to South Africa with a lift opportunity.
If new thomb ore refurbished is not available I will by pass.

Have heard somewhere about this 1515 code but did not try.
My disco is also a 96 model and will try.

I am so chuffed with myself due to the fact that the Disco came to life this afternoon.
Problem: the key fob was ooo.
Because I am quite in the bush innovation was the answer.
The old pentium 2 computer 16x Cd drive's micro switch came in usefull.
Armed with headlamp and magnifying glass I took the Cd drive micro switch's tinni winni conecting plate (1mm circle) out and was a perfect fit in the key fob's micro switch. A few buttons (Hole plugs) and little bit of Q-Bond and WALLA the doors unlock and the dreadfull key icon was gone from the dash board.
The Disco roared on the touch of the key and I am smiling ear to ear.
Imobalized!
