Default My Project-1999 Disco 1

I've got the fuel pump in, the wires are all joined up from new connectors to chassis wires---and then-no power at fuel pump. Checked fuses-all ok. I'm off to check Multifunction Relay today, and trace through inertia switch. Question-does the Land Rover have the standard logic for bringing on the fuel pump ie: power fuel pump for 15 to 20 sec. upon turning ign.key to pos.11, then power fuel pump off untill crankshaft sensor proves rotation at X rpm?? This, I believe is standard logic of most FI systems, then if auto quits after 20-30 sec. run time & rail pressure is low or 0- it is time to check crankshaft sensor. Does this sound reasonable. I'm going to power fuel pump with bypass wire to prove it works and then start tracing trouble from there.

Yes the fuel pump gets power for 5-10 sec after the key is turned to position 2, then fuel pump shuts off until engine is turned over but I do not know how many rpm.

You might be immobilized - see attached from RAVE. Check for +12 Volts or better to ground on both sides of inertia switch. If no volts at inertia, might be immobilzer.

It's a great day. Thought I would remove multifunction relay. Metered it and coil looked OK. Removed inertia switch & it is ok. Set meter up and found 12 volt at inertia switch from multifunction relay at ign.sw to position 11. Ran a bypass wire back to fuel pump from 12 volts at inertia switch and viola, the unit started ( I ran it 40 seconds or so). Bonus, all the WD40 I soaked onto auto shifter mechanism-worked. I can freely shift from neutral to P and all through gears. So the boo boo is my wiring from inertia switch to new pump & connectors. I used crimp connectors with shrink wrap. I guess I'm going to redo them & solder them tomorrow and then look out as this baby will be on the street and proven worth the rest of the major maintenance over the next week or so.
