Default P0102 code....

First time post....so apologize if this topic has been attended to in the past. i have 2002 discovery 2 ,Service engine soon light came on with autozone code read to be P0102. everything i read was MAF...i do offroad and noticed my engine cut off recently when i hit decent water hole, but wasnt deep enough imo to cut off, found it strange... i took air filter out and noticed trash in the bottom of the filter box due to some idiot that changed air filter last did not latch correctly and bent flap leaving a filter box open...also looked like a mouse ate a small hole in filter so i was getting trash, dirt, water etc past the filter. I pulled the MAF and cleaned with crc maf cleaner..changed filter and refit filter box. Service engine soon light is still on, its been one day. Anythoughts? thank you in advance

put a maf sensor that is OEM before it completely shuts down in a bad way. Seen a few do that and it leaves the person stranded.
