Default Rover Down. Please help!

Car is a 98 Disco. Has been running fine. No problems. I got my Ultra Gauge today. Hooked it up this afternoon. The car has an o2 sensor out so that check engine light was on. I was going through the menu options and notice it had a clear engine light option on there. I thought cool! And I cleared the o2 code (ive done this a few times with a pocket scanner) I wish I wouldn't have done that. Drove the rover to a local bar, drove fine. Met a friend for a beer, came back out. Tried to start it and it starts, putters and dies. Tried it again...same thing. Unplugged the Ultra Gauge and same thing. Plugged it back in and a new pending code came up. P1178: Maximum Positive AMFR correction fault. I unplugged the battery for 5 minutes. Put the terminal back on. Same result. What the heck did I do? How do I fix it?

MAF could be unplugged. From RAVE shop manual,SFI fuel system:

As there is no default strategy, failure will result in the
engine starting, and dying when it reaches 550
rev/min, when the ECM detects no MAF Sensor
signal. The fault is indicated by illumination of the
malfunction indicator light (MIL) on North American
specification vehicles

The UG and clearing the CEL had nothing to do with it.

I agree with Spike. Also, you "NEVER" disconnect the battery to clear a code, all you accomplish is a clearing of the memories from many of the ECU's that then must be relearned over the next day or two of driving, so leave the battery alone.

Well I guess it had something to do with the MAF. I took it off cleaned it and put it all back together and she runs again.

All ready did. Haha I promised her a total tune up next weekend. Air filter, Oil change, new plugs and wires.
