Default Timing chain issue

I am so frustrated with this Land Rover lr4, I have a major love-hate relationship with it. I bought it a year ago and now at only 72000 miles it's given me a camshaft and crankshaft positioning sensor errors check engine light. I took it to an independent Land Rover shop here in Portland and they're telling me I need new timing chains at $4,600. To meet sounds like this is a major fault of Land Rover engineering if timing chains go out this fast. Has anybody else experienced this type of issue? I'm debating what to do with this should I be considering getting rid of it and buying good ol American suv. Are there other things that I should watch for that will cost me tons of money it with this thing?

We see it a bunch. Starts out with the tensioners getting weak, then the chain slaps the guides and they start to break. LTB000474 lists updated part numbers for the tensioners and guides.

However, if you let it go until you had camshaft codes, then their quote probably included chains and VVT actuators as well.

This isn't a BMW engine, although BMW has had their fair share of Timing Chain issues.

i am having the same issue with 45k miles. Luckily still under warranty, but any issues in the future we need to be aware of after having this repair done? Will it last? Thanks

Thanks. I think we are done with this car... who's to say it won't happen again after 40k miles or less and then we are out of warranty..
