Default Trunk door stuck (Disco II '04)

Happens about once every two months. My trunk door gets stuck, cant open it from inside or outside. I'm lazy, and just try to pull at it every so often, and sure enough, once in awhile it unsnaps and lets me open the door normally.

I sprayed WD-40 around the hinge, etc, but this keeps happening.

What to do? I cant afford to ask a mechanic to take the door apart

Download the RAVE service manual set, go to pdf file "LT" (in lower case), in there you will find wmlt016n.pdf , which covers D2s 1999 on, it is the workshop manual. Go to section "doors", under that "repairs", which has several including: "Door - tail", "latch and motor tail door" , and "handle exterior tail door".

Everything you need to know about it, easy DIY.

its the child lock on the mechanism causing the issue. its a pain but replace the latch not the handle and you will be fine. Its not fun to get into it when it does it but a right angle pick will get in and push it up.
