Default Using transponder in lost key fob to locate it

My husband lost his key fob while helping my brother pack up to move his house. He misplaced his fob during this time, so it could have ended up in a moving box at several locations.

Is there a way to pinpoint the location of the fob by locking onto its transponder signal?

Thanks!

I'm guessing no, as there is only a signal when the button is being pushed.
