This is weird and challenging

Hi there!
Sounds as if you may have the dreaded 3 amigos plus your check engine light is on. Do a search on 3 amigos - sometimes it's due to an ABS sensor gone bad. There are workarounds to it. I haven't done anything with mine yet (need gumption?), anyway, the only thing it appears to affect is your anti-lock braking system (which is useful if you try to stop on ice as I do in the winter).
Check your codes to see what is causing the 'check engine light' to be lit. If you don't have an OBDII reader (ultragauge, etc.), you can stop at an auto parts store (ie; autozone) and they can read the codes for you. I had mine light up in the past due to a bad gas cap so it could be something simple like that.
Good luck and let us know what you find
