OK I know I'm nuts but I love my Freelander but it is past it's prime. I'm thinking of a 2012 with the Volvo engine or the 2013 with the Ford. When did LR finally fix the rear dif? They DID fix the rear dif, didn't they?
I bought a 2011 Ford Escape but don't like it at all. Looking to get back with LR.
I would appreciate your thoughts and advice.
Thank you

Nah...
Well for the money you are going to shell for a land rover there are many other luxury SUVs that can provide more luxury for the $. Granted, the LR2 does have a new engine, the same 4-cylinder as the Evoque. If you're not going to do serious off-roading then you're really not in need for a Land Rover.

The new engine is still unproven. I'd personally go with the 2012 (like I want to). The rear diff issue seems sporadic and seems to happen early on in ownership and that seemed to start with 2008 and declined since.
Its the electrical bugs I hear about that are most troublesome.
Get yourself a good diagnostic tool too. (unless you are friends with the dealer)
