Default Tow Hitch Question

I have a 2008 LR2 and had an after market tow package put on it. When I plug a 4-prong trailer in, the break lights and turn signals work fine. However, when I turn the headlights on, the trailer tail lights come on for about 1/2 second and then go out. The blinkers and break lights still work, but the tail lights won't stay on. I've tried two different trailers and both do the same thing. I tried the trailers with 2 other cars and everything works fine with the other cars. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks for the help!

the only reason i say this is because of the aftermarket installation: in all the 'new' rovers when adding aftermarket accessories or things of that nature the ccf (car configuration file) has to be modified to let the vehicle know that that option has been installed. I have a feeling that is your problem, however i have very limited knowlege about the lr duece. just going off of previous experience

is it possible to "jump'' trailer's tail lights from rear tail lights using a relay?
