Default Chirping/Squeaking in the air vent!! HELP

I think i have a bird or a grasshopper in my AC vent. Obviously that's not true, but seriously, how do i fix this?

I called the Land Rover dealer and they told me that it's the vent actuator that's squeaking and that it's plastic. He said the new one is metal and that I should replace it. $300!!!

Then i called a different dealer and they said it's just needed to be lubed. Maybe $50 or so...or I could do it myself if I could get to it.

A - Which is it? Replace or Re-lube

B - Let them do it? Or try to do it myself? If i do it myself, where is it??

Download the RAVE manual and the shop manual portion will explain it. If noise is not related to fan speed, that is a good sign.

pull off the center console cover, the side vent, the upper glove box, they just pull out with a little force. Then turn on the recirc, and feel the rod move up and down and lube that section where the rod rides on. Press the recirc six times and it show away. You can use silicone grease.

I've got the same issue. It's definitely fan speed related. meaning the chirping gets faster as the fan speed is increased. Why is this worse than if the noise is not fan speed related?
To me it sounds like the fan blades on the blower motor are hitting the side of the housing or something? only happens when using the heat.

Could be material is inside the fan (trash, leaves, pine straw). Look in RAVE and see how to drop the fan motor down, on my D1 it is just 3 bolts. Fan is high dollar. be careful with it.

different issue, the original posters happens when you hit the recirc button on the hvac, you are experiencing something in the fan motor itself. in your case, pull out the pollen filter and check to see whats in there.

I have had similar problem for years with my 06 LR3. When the AC was turned on or off, the flap made a fart noise that I quickly had to explain to guests in the vehicle. I have had two different dealers work on it and what they have done is re-lube it; luckily it was under warranty, so I didn't have to pay. The lubrication doesn't last forever, seems like a yearly problem, if not more regularly.
