Default HDC, Transmission and Brake faults

Guys, I know this has been posted before but i am still needing assistance. Upon driving for 8 hrs in a total downpour i hit the brake and when i did a HDC and Transmission fault appeared and the car lowered. I have since had a taillight out, replaced with same identical watt/volts and also replace the battery which was OEM. BTW its a 2005 LR3 with 39,000 miles on it.
So after replacing battery, i hit the brakes and bam all the fault lights came back on. Any other final suggestions before i give up and take to the dealer. I did not buy the extended warranty and i am alittle afraid now. Anyone cheer me up?

Thanks for any advice.

Well, one other thing to examine might be the alternator and /or related wiring connections (that might have corrosion build up). If you loose one diode in an alternator, it will put out just enough amps to run things on a regular dry day. But if it is raining (lights, wipers on), and AC on, and over a period of time, it just can't keep up the extra amps and the battery is not being charged enough. So a long drive in the rain would be a great place for that to show up. Should be able to get a free alternator / charging system test in the vehicle at parts store. If you have your own meter, measure battery volts without truck running. Turn on head lights, that will drop a little. Then crank truck and it should come back up to 13.7 - 14.2 volts. Turn on every thing in the truck, and voltage needs to hold above 13.2 volts. Batteries go by age, not miles, they are chemical and waste away even when parked.

Not sure what you will find in the RAVE tech manual on the subject, but the download is free.

Hello Byrdman,

I just encountered the exact problem today. My mechanics says its the ABS module that needs to be replaced. Did you sort out your case?

Thanks.

I tried just about everything with this truck. I looked for anywhere that might have a bad ground, to replacing the ABS module, to a new battery (which i was told 90% of the time fixes the problem) and i went ahead a replaced all the bulbs. Mine was eventually fixed with replacing the aircompressor. All said and done it was about 1800! Not very happy, especially with 30,000 miles on it! But i was also told, i have just about replaced everything that will go wrong with it and i should be good for a long time. FYI, when i first took it to a garage (not Landrover) it pulled over 35+ error codes, and one by one they were eliminated as i started replacing/repairing the items listed above.

Hope that helps

That my friends is the most ignorant shop in the world and a customer willing to go along with their bull****.

Five bucks says they had no idea how the system works and what to eliminate as possible problems.

Trust me I can fix them with my eyes shut and can read past all the bs codes by looking at what is really going on and with SDD.

Five bucks says they never even bothered to check any splices or fix them. Just wait you will be back for alot more problems they couldn't fix.

oh and the fix for alot break problems is the splice on the passenger side just north of the passenger seat on the sill plate in the harness. its a red wire with splices.
