Intermittent Wipers

Hello, I am new to the forum, looking for some assistance with Intermittent Wiper problem. Any help is greatly appreciated - have searched forums with no luck. I have a 2007 LR3 SE w/57K miles. Vehicle is equppped with rain sensative wipers. I have never had a problem until two weeks ago. Now wipers do not work at all in intermittent mode. Fornt and rear wiper can be activated manually by pushing switch down for single wipe or setting to high mode. When you pull the switch down to activate a single swipe, the wipers stop as soon as you let go of the switch - they do not return home to the bottom of the windshield. Same thing happens if you shut off high mode, the wipers stop wherever they are on the windshield. If anyone has had this problem or has any advice, suggestions would be very much appreciated. if the wipers stop wherever they are then the motor is bad itself. seen it a few times.
