Angry LR3 gives TPM and HDC error codes and won't start.

My 06 LR3 produces error codes when starting, on moving to start we get a click click sound, engine does not turn. If we get out of the car lock it and then unlock using the remote, it usually fixes the problem and starts.
Battery seems OK, 12.4V nominal 14.6V engine running. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix? Vehicle is out of warranty.

do you have a second key? I'm thinking it my be the key's theif provention mechanism and that the wireless handshack with the key isn't happening possibley due to low battery, etc. try your 2nd key if you have it.

perkj,

Unfortunately I was only given one key by the used car dealer, happily he has agreed to pay for a diagnostic test at the dealer. I will post result for any other poor sod that has this kind of problem. Strangely its not happened again since it warmed up a few degrees to 30+

It could simply be a weak battery given what you stated above.
