So I just purchased an 06 LR3 a few weeks ago and we just got our first rain the other day, since I've had my car. When I got in my car after it had been sitting in the rain for a while, there was a horrible mildew smell.
It went away after a while, but if I ever left my car for more than an hour or so, it would smell terrible again.
Any way to clear this smell? I've read a lot about clogged evaporator vents on the Disco 2...does the LR3 have the same problem??
Clogged drains can be a problem, and some vehicles develop a smell that can be treated with Lysol or other spray, just turn on AC and introduce spray at fresh air intake, in My Disco that is under the hood near wipers. Your trying to kill off the mold that is growing inside the system in cool dark wet places. Of course, if the underside of your carpet pads are wet, may indicate other water related (flooding, wading) with the vehicle.
Happened to my PT Cruiser.....I used a sanitizing spray specifically for the cabin climate system. You simply spray into the intake (under the front window) while fan, a/c on.
You do need if the system is draining properly.
