Default An LR3 keyfob question

Hi folks. I would welcome your suggestions.
I own a 2005 LR3, and the keyfob's battery is quickly dying. The local dealer wants >$500 to replace it (includes 'reprogramming', which they tell me takes one hour). Is there indeed no way to replace the internal battery? If so, is there a less expensive way to buy a new key?

Thanks!

Default Yes, one can replace the battery.

Here is a link to tear apart instructions re the key fob. It is not easy, but the incentive is high.

DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - both key fobs not working - help

The rechargeable vanadium pentoxide lithium battery that you purchase is Panasonic 3 volt VL2330 1HFE but the number may now be changed to VL 2330 HFN. The 1HFE refers to the style of tabs that are soldered on and that there is an insulation wrap around the perimeter of the 23mm diameter coin type battery. You will have some difficulty actually getting the battery in Alberta. The best source is Digi-Key and they will sell one or two and mail them to you at a good price.

If you just replace the battery, the existing programming will be OK. It is when a new key from Solihull shows up that reprogramming of all your keys is required.
