Default Combination slider/step

I'm looking for a combo slider/step for my '99 D1. It's got a 2" Rovertym lift with 285/35's, so it's essentially a 3" lift from stock. The problem is my wife is only 5'1" and would like a step to help her up. I know this will mess up the optimal ramp breakover, but everything in life is a compromise and you modify to best fit your needs. Also, if it's got some "slider-type" strength, they will offer protection and not get damaged themselves.

I found some ARBs that looked like they might fill the bill, but not sure of strength. Also wonder if anybody makes a modified version of a regular slider...sort of a "slider with a step."

Thanks!
Pete

Are you looking for something like this with an attached nerf bar.
You can make a set or buy a set from RTE.

Yeah, that pretty much what I want except the nerf bar to be a few inches lower so it could be more easily used as a step. Maybe RTE would modify that slider? I'll give them a call.

You will need to decide between your wifes needs and what sort of wheeling you do. Go lower with the nerf and you will tear it off when off roading.

i saw someone put a step on the pass side once, it flipped into the foot well so it was out of the way for wheeling.. it was someone on the forum here.

When my short elderly 85 year old Mother-in-law goes with us in my D1 we have a small folding 2 step ladder that we take along and she pops in and out of the passenger seat with no problems. Once in we just fold it up and throw it in the back. I have regular sliders with no nerf bar and a medium OME lift. This is an easy cheap solution that does not inhibit off roading or even around town getting in and out.

I think you are going to have to go custom for this. The problem I see is that you may not be very happy with what you get when it is all done.
