Default Improveing stock D1 bumper

hey guys i removed the bottom plastic portion and fog lights and cut the plastic corners of my front bumper. i think it looks great and gives me 100% better approach. i feel i really did a top notch job, looks extremely clean. for a diy free mod.

sorry for the cell, night shots
but im not done yet.
i know this definitely wont compare to an aftermarket HD bumper but im improving the stock one by far without spending 1k+$

now i have a plan in my head and i was wondering if you guys can give me some guidance on this part i will be buying within the next month or so.
im planning on removing that plastic centre piece and welding on 2 D-ring bases onto the bumper were the frame meets the bumper.
can any one tell by the markings on these d rings what weight they hold. and if i would be fine with these in a pinch, or you suggest different ones? they seem to be exactly what im looking for.

"D-Ring Mounts - Pair

1 Inch thick D-ring shackle universal weld on mounting brackets.
Non-coated, ready to be welded anywhere on the vehicle's frame or bumpers.
Provides easy access point to connect a tow strap or chain for recovering stuck or broken vehicles
Kit includes:
2-Universal weld on mounting brackets
2- 3/4 inch universal d-ring shackles"

thanks.

IMO I'm not sure that the stock bumper will take the abuse of the hooks for any thing other than light duty/ occassional use. I would reccommend if you weld the hooks to the frt bumper you do it where the bumper mounts to the frame for better "pull" and durability.

yes, after more research I'm thinking we will put then on the frame. i always knew that the front bumper is just a flimsy metal sheet, i figured that the frame came right up to the bumper and i could cut out little slots and be able to weld them to the frame. but from a response on another board there is like 6" of space between the bumper and the frame. crush can point?

ive done it to mine a few months back...

held up pretty well to trail use but one day i tied up to a tree to pull tension on it as we cut it down and it pulled one side of my bumper out about 6 inches... so if you do do it weld or bolt somehting directly to the frame to put the anchors on... here are mine in action

my rover came with a factory skidplate, but the one i currently have on it i made at the fab shop i work at about a month after buying my rover last october... i measured my stock skidplate and drew it up to scale and had the draftsman program it into autocad and send it to the cnc table and cut it out of some 3/16 stainless...
