Rear Door-Cargo Area Project Landy
It took way to long to do this, but it is done now. I cleaned this area completely up to make room for Woof my dog.
I used the other half of the toolbox that I used for the bumper mounted tire gate/toolbox to make this one inside.
The area not covered by the toolbox is an old rubber floor mat protector that I had lying around. I used the existing holes for the original cover to fasten it.
The reciever hitch is held by the old jack mount that was in the fr4ont beofre I made that into the second battery compartment.
The blue bag inside the toolbox is a recovery chain.
The stainless steel rings are for 2-quart dog pails that are on their way from Ebay.
I mounted the snow plow foam handle to the inside and the ice crapper to the outside. (No need for them but, old Boston habits die hard.
The jumper cables are mounted to the back of the small seat in an old laptop case and are accessible by the back or pulling down the rear seat.Attachment 26944

Modified [Again]
Sorry about the delayed response..I did not see the many years ago post till the last one posted and then I have been in the middle of changing things on the gate yet again. I have not ever had to change the tire on the rover in all the years I have owned it, so I decided to move it to the roof rack. I am still going to mount the Poulon chainsaw case on the top of the rack but I need to buy another case, as the last one was lost in a fire. I also made a mounting bracket for the tractor supply out of 1/2 inch EMT that I had laying around.
I took more pictures of the mounting points of the gate. Just let me know what else you want to see or know about.
Cheers,
Tex

Great job with the fabrication.
I would avoid carrying gasoline on the rear end. That's what got the Ford Pinto in trouble. At least yours is above the bumper, and it's better than the fools who put gasoline cans on their roof. I don't know how they plan to escape a rupture that pours over the vehicle and onto the brakes or exhaust pipes.

My Dad always laughs at the gas blowing up thing, he drove a jeep around in the army in Vietnam and Korea with a can on the back and says he never saw one blown up, and that plenty of them was rear-ended. (He was a CID investigator, so he would have known about it) I am not so sure of that, being as I have been run over by my own LR.
(My Dad ended his second career as The Director of Saftey and Compliance for the State of Texas, so to say he's errors on the cautious side would be a gross understatement.)
But, it would take a Semi to get high enough to impact with that can and if it did hit it with enough impact to ignite it, I would be dead anyway.
Hey Army! How went the MG rebuild? Are you caravaning around the US yet?

I had been having an issue with the SSL certificate on my site but I think I have corrected it now, so check out my personal rover website. No forums just an informational site. I still have to add the projects page but most of it is done.
