Default From a minivan to a Land Rover

After 10 years of carting my 4 girls around in a minivan I now own a 97 Land Rover Discovery! Very excited! I'll need some help in the technical area. It's been a long time since I've been under a car!

Everything seems to be in good working order...The previous owner took great care of it. We took it out this weekend for some easy offroading. There is a large network of trails about 5 miles from our house all marked by skill level. I stuck to the 'easy' roads. lol.

If you just picked up a used LR what would you look at first in terms of maintenance or performance?

check out spike55s write up on all the things to check. It should be a sticky called things to look for when buying a D1 or something. As far as maintenance goes, some thing off the top of my head are
1 fuel filter
2. air filter
3. engine oil and filter
4. tranny fluid
5. front rear diffs and t case oil
6. coolant.
7 spark plugs
8. grease in the u joints nipples
