Default New Guy... Pre-Ownership but...

I am considering picking up a LR as a second vehicle. There seem to be a few of the LR Discoveries out there in the price range I would want to spend, but all are around 100K+ in milage. I am pretty good around cars mechanically, and electrically, but how dependable is the engine drive train on these?

I am new to LR as well, just bought an 02 Disco, but if you search out the right truck and be patient there are deals out there and you can get a reliable vehicle. Try to find one that has one or two owners that really took car of the truck and followed dealer's specs for maintenance. Finding a truck with complete service records was important for me so i knew what i was getting into. Servicing a LR will be costly, but again if you find the right truck it will be worth it. Preventative maintenance is key! Don't wait to get it fixed, it only gets worse, and more expensive. Last, don't be afraid to ask questions here on the forum, everyone has been so helpful to this newbie. Rovers certainly have their quirks but they are so fun to drive and have around. I would however keep a second vehicle if you can. Good luck finding the right Disco, I love mine!
Cheers,
Gabe

Thanks for the reply. I am not in a rush, like I said it will be a second vehicle, so it is not like I need it ASAP. I am doing my research now. Hopefully this will be a good experience.
