1st mistake - ebay.

2nd mistake - looking for an already "off road ready" vehicle.

No, you don't have to pay top dollar for a D2. You can find one for half that pristine condition, less if you are willing to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. (trucks with issues)

Also, these trucks are extremely capable in stock form. Most on here with D2's will attest to that. I have keep up with mildly lifted jeeps, and I am on street rubber and suspension height.

Thanks,
I figured as much. It just seems odd to have found multiply 12+year Disco with 60k+ miles selling for over 12k!! Especially since they are know for having so many issue.

I am looking for one that is in a bit better shape since I will be toting the family around in it. I know my wife will want to drive it as well since she has, as I, always loved the look of the Disco. Dose any one have a good suggestion of a website or place that has a good reputation for finding a nice Disco at a reasonable price?

Where do you live? There's a place in Alpharetta, GA that does a solid job (imho) curing common issues and reselling discos. It's called Atlanta on Wheels. They have a website. I bought mine there and had it shipped to VA.

I can agree with D11dad. Atlanta on Wheels is where I purchased my 2001 Disco and had great service with them.
And yeah... definitely stay away from ebay for buying trucks.

Atlanta on wheels.... I'll check it out. I live in western North Carolina so that is not that far. Thanks D11dad and JUKE179r!!

What is the suggestion.... Buy one with some off road equipment already installed i.e. safari rack, lift and tires, etc.. do you think one can save some $$ buying that way or buy a Disco stripped down and adding yourself?

I'd say math it out if you find a truck your interested in. There are all sorts of racks, lifts, tires, bumpers...etc. Big thing (IMHO) is to make sure if its got near a 100K miles, that its mechanically sound.

Thanks D11dad,
I will for sure. The last thing I want is a pig with lipstick!!
I checked out the Atlanta on Wheels but they only have 2 Discos for sale. Nothing else, I mean nothing! they are the only two vehicles total! I tried to contact them but never heard back. I hoping they haven't closed.

Would any of you pay over 10K for a 02-04 with 60K-100K miles or is that overpriced?

For a stock disco, that seems like a lot.

I got extremely lucky with Atlanta on Wheels. My wife secretly told them what I was looking for... Series II Disco, low miles, clean, with a lift, and in great condition.
They seriously came through with a winner that was shipped from California that included no rust, rock guards, fog lights, steel bumpers front and back, low miles (92,700), 2" lift, tint, blacked out, cable winch and steering/tank/differential plates for $7200.
Call Jay and/or Calvin at (404) 281-6468. The guys are mad cool. I can go in their shop and talk for hours about Land Rovers and about my true love that I plan to own one day... the Defender 110.
