Default Dashcam

Hi all, I have had a thought and I would imagine that i`m not the first to ask but here goes. I have lost count of the number of friends and family who have been victims of 'staged' car accidents and so for my own piece of mind I thought i would install a dashcam on my Discovery 1.......until I saw the prices! So I thought surely there is a way of doing this myself, as an IT Techy, I have all manner or hard drives, memory cards etc and I also have a Vado pocket video camera and a HD Flip camera. But I cant think of a way I could set something up in my Disco to record onto say an SD Card during my journey. When the card is full it should then start recording back over previous data, so i`m thinking that I may need some software of some description. Has anyone done this in their own vehicles before? How did you go about it? Many thanks.

I'm not sure everyone would want SWMBO to know that there was a video record of every place they went while she was visiting her mamma.... and not sure how well it would be received by some courts unless time date is also recorded on screen. And any fool knows that a Rover owner is soon broke from repairs....

But it could make re-telling trail stories lots of fun...

I did see that post before but dont have iPhone :-( I was hoping I might be able to dismantle the Vado or Flip Cam and remove the camera (given that I love to take things apart!) and maybe somehow fashion the camera to record onto SD card.
