Hello,
This is my first post on this message board. I have a few questions that maybe some one here can help me with.
I had a 95 Disco a while back then it was totaled and a I got a small Volvo after that. The Volvo is old now and needs work that I dont want to do to it.
I have been looking at a 1985 Defender 90 that I can import into the US. It is turning 25 years old on January 12th. To those that know, any car that is 25 years old can be imported with almost no problems.
What I wanted to know though, is if any one has done imported a car (old Rover) before? Most important, the motor that it has is a 200TDi. Not original to this Defender. Would this cause problems with emissions import laws? Or because it is 25 years old does it mater? Is the 200TDi legal in the states? (no)<--my guess.
I know I have seen Rovers with diesels in them driving around the US.

never mind. I just got my second shipping quote at $7000. That is as much as the Rover and add that in with all the other fees. Totally not worth it. Damn our damn US Import Laws.
I cant believe that B.S. they are trying to quote me. I was talking to a friend that is from over seas. He was telling me that he did it recently and it only cost him $1500. So I need to be looking a little deeper.
Any one here have any good resources on some old Defenders in Canada or Mexico? I got to thinking that importing from the same side of the world might be a little easier.
